While divestment and litigation are important tools in the fight to curtail unethical business practices, investor activism has the potential to bridge the gap where corporate misconduct falls squarely within the boundaries of the law.
The concept is a simple one: rather than simply divesting from/ litigating against unethical companies, individuals, entities, and nonprofits can invest in these companies to effect more meaningful changes from within. Combined with more conventional regulatory and litigation strategies, shareholder voting is essential to a holistic approach to social justice and environmental and reform.
